Episode 80 – CCGesus

It’s a solo show for Lang, as he failed to do any interviews whilst at GDC. He answered a bunch of emails, read some iTunes reviews, and in general did his best not to make a mockery of the Platform of Excellence that has been established for the show. This is validated with some iTunes reviews, including one that dubbed Darryl Wisner as CCGesus, a.k.a. the greatest nickname of all time (which up until now belonged to Dominique Wilkins, a.k.a. the Human Highlight Reel and Dave’s college acquaintance Big Breakfast).

Episode 79 – How Are Your Rock Features?

Dave is in Orlando and this podcast was recorded at Casa de Wisner. It’s an email heavy show, but Darryl does talk about some shenanigans he saw off of Orange Ave. while walking to work one day, and we’re all worse for hearing that story.

Then the guys start to work through the email backlog. I won’t bore you with all the details, but the guys touch on lots of different topics: Genital dreads, software unit tests, RUN GFB, Dave being way too drunk at the Giant Bomb PAX Prime party, etc. you get the gist of it.

Episode 78 – CCGs In The House

It’s a Lang-only show, but instead of panicking Dave called in some favors and got some CCGs lined up for what is, without a doubt, the Greatest Episode of All Time (also the longest episode of all time for those scoring at home).

Dave starts off with a DICE summary with Playstation’s Adam Boyes. The guys talk about DICE itself, after hours stuff, and the now infamous Friday night at Omnia. No phone numbers were tweeted out during this segment.

Then, Dave welcomes travel bestie Kelly Wallick to the show to discuss travel, specifically to Japan. They debate the merits of Tokyo and Kyoto, and try to get everyone excited enough about Japan to book a trip there immediately.

After that Dave chats with Justin Woodward about lots of stuff, but mostly his company’s new game that’s up on fig.co right now. This game is CCG approved.

Dave rounds out this monster of an episode with a grip of emails before passing out in a heap on the floor.

Episode 77 – The Halo Crab Thing

Hello Everyone! After a week of radio silence the guys are back and better than ever.

First, they start with a heartfelt apology about last week. They tried their best, they failed, and you picked them up. Sorry/Thank You.

The guys then plug the first ever Team GFB Play Date (info here), Dave talks about The Witness (again), before launching into an extended travelogue from his trip to SF.

Darryl had an unexpected trip to Chicago while Dave was out, and his visit coincided with a company Bender, and he did it real big.

They guys wrap the show with four STRONG emails, and manage to plug their PAX East panel in their answers (they are pros).

Episode 76 – Clip Show II: Clippy’s Revenge

This is rad. We didn’t get to do a show this week so some community members made a clip show.

Thanks for @elcaminodino and @alecgwin and anyone else for making this happen. Super cool!

Episode 75 – Sad Taco

Wow, where to even start.

What an episode. Just packed with stuff. Lot’s of stuff. Stuff.

The dudes talk about Valentine’s Day, Chicago Pizza shaped like hearts, PAX East plans, and DICE before getting into Dave’s weekend in Santa Rosa, CA with friends of the show Adam Boyes and John Vignocchi. Some stuff went down.

After that the guys talk Super Bowl, The Witness, video game biz dev analytic tools and the first ever GFB Play Date before shutting down the show with some great emails. Huzzah, what a ride!

Episode 74 – Unload The Toad

This episode should be titled: Hey go review the show on iTunes, because that’s all we care about this week.

Darryl starts off the show by trying to explain what shipping a game is like for the listeners, Lang attempts to help with a fairly tenuous Shipping analogy.

Then, Dave talks about going to Austin, which of course means this week’s show has a heaping helping of Kraig impersonations in it. You’re welcome in advance. Kraig took Dave the the sexual nexus of Austin, and Dave still doesn’t know what “sexual nexus” means.

Dave talks a lot of PAX, and Summer Slam; he interviewed some people involved with the show, if you’re into behind the scenes PAX Wrestling info.

Darryl then goes over the glory that was the Killer Instinct World Cup, which basically went about as well as anyone could reasonably hope for.

Episode 73 – Ride The Snail

In what can only be described as “fashionably late,” Episode 73 shows up to perplex and surprise you.

Lang speed talks for 60 minutes in this one, mostly because Darryl elected to not contribute. Topics covered include but are not limited to: Honey, Bees, The Witcher 3, honeycomb, Who’s Your Daddy, Mario Maker, Killer Queen, Turbo Bears, and much much more.

Later the guys talk about Adam Boyes’ reaction to the Witcher 3, PAX, KI Cup, and answer some emails. Huzzah, it’s the episode you never knew you wanted.

Episode 72 – Let’s Rank It!

This is a heartfelt edition of Team GFB Radio. We laughed. We cried. We planned a wedding for a stranger.

Dave starts by going over the latest Iron Galaxy Mandatory Fun Company Bender, wherein he watched Pacific Rim in the office with Ramon asleep next to him at five in the morning. The guys both started and, get this, finished (!) OXENFREE and have some spoiler-free thoughts on it. Dave has some musings on the show to this point, and Darryl doesn’t seem to appreciate them. Darryl gets Dave up to speed on the world of Lego Dimensions, and there’s some more Ori and Max and the Cursed Brotherhood talk before the guys roll into emails.

There were a lot of emails this week, and they were all good, but one stood out. It’s the one wherein the guys know how they will rebrand Team GFB Radio. Finally.

Episode 71 – Drunk In A Cornfield

This episode is, as they say, a grower not a show-er. The guys (for some reason) start off talking about their Coravins, then Dave transitions into talking about his new iPhone. This is probably a good time to remind you that without some boring parts in the shows you wouldn’t appreciate the great bits when they occur.

Darryl got a 3D printer and, probably because he’s a good father, decided to make toys for his girls instead of weapons like Dave would have. Then Dave went to LA where he saw his High School friend and comedian Brian Babylon and Multiplayer on Dash curator Alex Rubens, before going to a day trip to Orlando where he packed in too much drinking into too short a time.

Dave played Ori with his 9 year old son, and found it difficult to explain what a Metroid-Vania style game is to him, and why he should care. Darryl played some adventure games and the guys finally played Who’s Your Daddy. Turns out they are both awful dads, but you probably already knew that.

In emails, Dave tells the story of his Oktoberfest in Breese, IL back in 1994 (spoiler: it ends poorly), and the guys answer a question about what some one in Marketing does over the course of a game’s development cycle.
